On January 25, 2019; the Wild Rice Soil Conservation District held it's annual Achievement Award Banquet at The Springs in Gwinner. This year we honored Dennis and Nick McLaen for the conservation work done on their farm. They have implemented no-till farming, cover crops, tree plantings, and other practices across their operation making them model stewards of the land. In addition to being honored locally, the McLaen's were also acknowledged alongside other achievement award winners from across North Dakota at the ND Association of Soil Conservation Districts Annual Meeting in Bismarck in November. Below is a picture of Nick, Katie, Carl, and Ruth McLaen being presented with their plaque by Joe Breker (board member of the Wild Rice Soil Conservation District).

It is the goal of the Wild Rice Soil Conservation District to educate and help the local land users (for conservation of soil) right here in Sargent County. We do this by offering a variety of services and making available various technical, financial, and educational resources.
