New Services Offered in 2019

As a Conservation District we are always trying to adapt to the needs of folks here in Sargent County. This year we are expanding our services to help people who are trying to get trees established to increase their odds. This summer we will offer Fabric Maintenance, Removal, and Weeding as part of our services.

Weed Barrier Fabric is a great product that has increased tree planting success. However if the fabric is forgotten about after installation it can begin to do more harm than good. Over time the fabric can pinch around the tree stunting and decreasing the health of the tree. To fix this the slit where the tree went into the fabric needs to be expanded. In other cases it might be suggested to remove your tree fabric completely. If you have fabric over suckering shrubs you are stopping that row of shrubs from completely filling in with new growth. On newer plantings weed growth within the slit of the fabric where the tree is planted can be a problem. Large, annual weeds use up moisture and shade out smaller trees. That is why we are also offering the weeding service as well.

For information or questions about your planting call our office @ (701) 724-3247 ext 3.
